Tartar (Scale) Removal / Scaling

Tartar (Scale) Removal / Scaling

Scaling is the professional removal of plaque and tartar that builds up over time on the tooth surface and around the gumline. Gum problems generally occur because of plaque that accumulates on and around teeth; plaque that is not cleaned regularly hardens into tartar, which can only be removed with professional methods.

The procedure is carried out using ultrasonic devices to gently remove deposits on the tooth surface and along the gumline. It is generally a painless procedure; local anesthesia can be applied if necessary for patients with sensitive gums.
