Night Guard

Night Guard

A night guard (occlusal splint) is a protective appliance custom-made for the mouth and worn during sleep. It is used to prevent tooth wear, jaw joint (TMJ) pain and the resulting headaches in patients with a teeth-grinding (bruxism) or clenching habit.

Night Guard - Dt. Halime Savcı, Mardin

How Is a Night Guard Made?

First, an impression of the mouth is taken. From the model obtained from this impression, a night guard is produced in a laboratory from a clear or hard acrylic material, custom-made for the individual. When the guard is delivered, its fit is checked and fine adjustments are made if necessary.

Who Is It Suitable For?
  • Those with a teeth-grinding or clenching habit during sleep
  • Those who experience jaw or headache complaints in the mornings
  • Patients who have started to develop wear on tooth surfaces
  • Patients feeling discomfort in the jaw joint (TMJ)
  • Those who want to protect newly made crowns or fillings
How to Use

The night guard is fitted every night before sleep, removed in the morning, rinsed with clean water and stored. Regular use both prevents tooth wear and keeps the jaw muscles more relaxed throughout the night.

Patients from Mardin and its districts: In addition to central Mardin, we also provide night guard impression and delivery services to patients coming from Kızıltepe and Midyat. At Özel Astro Dent Oral and Dental Health Clinic, we can plan your appointment in advance to organise your impression and delivery appointments to best suit you.
