Preventive Dentistry

For children, preventive dentistry is a process that begins six months after the first tooth erupts and continues for life. Preventive applications are not limited to children; in adults too, cavities and gum disease can be prevented before they occur through regular check-ups, professional care and fluoride application when needed.
One preventive method frequently applied in children is fissure sealant application, which makes it harder for cavities to form by sealing the pits and grooves on the chewing surfaces of molars. Fluoride application, on the other hand, helps strengthen tooth enamel and increase resistance to decay.
